(CHICAGO)
-- NATO protests in Chicago have prompted hackers to launch a cyber
attack on both the City of Chicago’s website and the Chicago Police
Department’s website on Sunday, according to published reports.
On
cyberwarnews.info, a YouTube video was posted that says the hackers,
who claim to be part of the group Anonymous have started “an operation
toward the Chicago police department and its websites.”
The
statement, in part, reads: “Greetings fellow citizens of the world, we
are AntiS3curityOPS.” The statement goes on to say, “We are actively
engaged in actions against the Chicago Police Department, and encourage
anyone to take up the cause and use the AntiS3curityOPS Anonymous
banner. For those able, chicagopolice.org should be fired upon as much
as possible. We are in your harbor Chicago, and you will not forget us.”
